Ruth 2

Ruth 2:1-23

SUMMARYNo coincidences

OVERVIEWBoaz shows kindness to Ruth and allows her to gather grain from his field. The writer’s use of the phrase  “as it happened” (or “as it turned out”) is a play on words to show God’s sovereignty.

BIG IDEAThere are no coincidences. God is our guide and provider.

KEY VERSERuth 2:12 (Boaz to Ruth)
May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
There are no coincidences. I am Lord of all. I allow and arrange for people, situations, and events to cross paths. I am putting together a beautiful mosaic that displays my love, power, and care for you. Keep your eyes open to all I am doing and enjoy it. Look for my activity and celebrate what you see. Use these moments to tell others your story of faith in a God who knows you and loves you. Let them know I am doing the same in their lives.

Being “under my wings” is a place of refuge. It’s a picture of love and security. All my children are under my wings. Nothing happens to you without my knowledge. I am directing and redirecting in ways that help you know me. There is more room under my wings for those who don’t have a relationship with me, those looking for love and trying to find their way. Invite them in.

NEXT STEP
Trust that God is at work in your life. Look for ways you see God at work and thank him. Look with a sense of expectation and hope. Tell others what God is showing you.
