BIG IDEAGod’s grace gives us the power to overcome.

KEY VERSERomans 6:14 (Paul’s reminder that grace will empower us)
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

Throw a party! You are free! You were trapped in your bad habits, held back by your hang-ups, disabled by your hurts, powerless to do what you should, unable to resist doing what you shouldn’t. You were shackled to a monster you couldn’t control, leading you everywhere you didn’t need to be. But all that has changed. I have released you from the power of sin, and you are bound to me. By my power, you are free.

I give you the power to do good, rather than evil. I give you the ability to live a good life for you and those around you. I provide you with power and wisdom to make better choices, understand my ways, and live righteously. Don’t try to do good things to earn my love. You can’t. Instead, accept my unconditional love for you and let it motivate you to live well and glorify me.

Be honest with yourself. What choices are you making that aren’t consistent with your new life in Christ? Inventory your relationships, your job, finances, health, sex life, attitudes, and time management. Remember the unreasonable love God demonstrated for you when he sent his one and only son Jesus to the cross in your place. Celebrate his love for you by making better choices today.
