Romans 2

Romans 2. Practice

Romans 2:1-29

SUMMARYPractice

OVERVIEWPaul reminds the Romans to practice what they profess. Instead of condemning or judging others, they are to remember it was God’s kindness that led them to repentance.

BIG IDEAShow kindness to others and live what you believe.

KEY VERSERomans 2:21 (Paul’s reminder)
Well then, if you teach others, why don’t you teach yourself? You tell others not to steal, but do you steal?

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Don’t use your faith as an excuse to judge and look down on others. Remember, you have found salvation, freedom, and abundant living by my grace. You don’t deserve it any more than someone who doesn’t believe it. Don’t consider yourself better than others because you’ve responded to my love, and they have not. Be humbled by my far-reaching love for you. Come to me for the power to live as you should. Come to me for forgiveness and restoration when you stumble. Come to me.

Your message will mean nothing if you don’t live it out. You can’t teach others how to live if you don’t show them by your actions, character, and commitment. And you can’t live it apart from me. Every day, every hour, every minute, let me give you what you need to live the life I created you to live. Don’t seek perfection or ‘goodness’. Seek me. Live in me and let me live in you. Walk with me, and you will find yourself living the good news message that others need.

NEXT STEP
Is there a person or group of people that you hold a judgmental attitude towards? Confess it. Remember your shortcomings, and thank God for his grace and love. Take time to learn more about those you feel judgmental towards and pray for them.
