Revelation 9

Revelation 9. Too proud

Revelation 9:1-21

SUMMARYToo proud

OVERVIEWDespite the horrors and plagues inflicted upon those without God’s seal, many still choose not to repent.

BIG IDEADon’t be hard-hearted. Humble yourself and confess your sin.

KEY VERSERevelation 9:20 (John’s observation)
But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to repent of their evil deeds and turn to God. They continued to worship demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that can neither see nor hear nor walk!

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Do not let your heart harden like a heavy stone. I do not lead you into temptation, so do not go there. If you open the door to temptation today, deadly sin will sit at your table tomorrow. Toxic habits will develop in the days that follow. Before you know it, your heart will become calloused and unyielding to my Spirit. You will be trapped beneath a mountain of rebellion and wickedness, unable to recognize the need to repent.

Confession is the antidote to a hard heart. Acknowledge your sin to me. I am here to forgive and to help you deal with the consequences. I am the strength and guidance you need to put your life back together. Keep your heart soft and open to me. Be humble and dependent on me. When you face temptation, come to me immediately. I will help you overcome it. No matter how far you have gone, I am always here to welcome you back.

NEXT STEP
Identify a trustworthy friend. Whether you are currently wrestling with a specific temptation or not, ask your friend for accountability. Give your friend permission to check on your spiritual health. When tempted, let God know and ask him to provide the way out. Let your friend know as well.
