SUMMARY: Wake up!
OVERVIEW: Jesus addresses three more churches, challenging them to wake up, to take advantage of opportunities, and to repent for their deeds.
BIG IDEA: Stop sleepwalking through life.
KEY VERSE: Revelation 3:2 (Jesus to the church in Sardis)
Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God.
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
What do people see when they look below the surface of who you are? Perhaps you look good at first glance, going where you should go, doing what you should do, saying all the right things. But are you following me or a lifestyle? Does someone else’s agenda dictate your choices, or do you let me set your schedule?
Stop sleepwalking through life. Going through the motions of loving someone is nothing but empty self-love. Let my presence shake you awake—bolt upright from your bed of apathy. Throw off the soiled blankets of lust, greed, pride, and pretense. Step into the bright light of my grace and surrender to me again. I am life.
Wake up, fully alive, before it it’s too late. Today is almost gone, and this life is disappearing. Knowing about me is not enough. Know me. Join me where I am working today. Follow me where I lead you today.
Discipline and positive habits are valuable, but we must not let routines replace our relationship with Jesus. What busyness can you eliminate from your schedule today? Ask God what he would have you do with that time instead.
