Revelation 12

Revelation 12. Defeated

Revelation 12:1-18

SUMMARYDefeated

OVERVIEW: John sees signs in heaven where a dragon—Satan—is thrown out of heaven, taking 1/3 of the angels with him. He sees the birth of Christ protected from the dragon and later sees believers who are also protected. The blood of the lamb and faith declaration of believers defeat Satan.

BIG IDEAWe have victory over the devil through Christ.

KEY VERSERevelation 12:10 (voice from heaven to John)
Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has come at last— salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have given you victory through Christ. Live in that victory. Your enemy is defeated, so don’t succumb to the lies he whispers in your ears. None of those lies have authority over you–do not give them power. Dismiss them as folly from a conquered foe who will say or do anything to distract you from my truth. Satan is an accuser. It’s who he is and what he does. He is not a truth-teller. Ignore him and focus on the truth of my word.

You will face temptation and fear, but they will come from a desperate, defeated foe. Turn to me, and I will give you strength. Run to me, and I will provide protection. The blood of Christ has defeated Satan. Even believers in Jesus who die by Satan’s efforts rise again. Satan has no eternal power over you. Sing songs of praise for what Christ has done. Rejoice that you are my child!

NEXT STEP
Do not live in fear today. You may experience temptation or doubt or accusations or all of the above, but none will have authority or power. Review verses 10-12 several times today. Pause and reflect on a different aspect from those verses throughout your day.
