Psalm 70

Psalm 70:1-5

SUMMARYDon’t wait!

OVERVIEWDavid is desperate for God’s help. Four times in five verses he asks God to hurry.

BIG IDEADon’t wait to ask for God’s help. Ask now.

KEY VERSEPsalm 70:5
But as for me, I am poor and needy; please hurry to my aid, O God. You are my helper and my savior; O Lord, do not delay.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
You may be in a hurry. You may want immediate relief. You may be out of breath and panicking. But I invite you to rest. I appeal for you to change your pace of living. I encourage you to take slow, deep breaths. I am here and I am everything you will ever need. I don’t have to hurry, because I am already present. I bring delivery, hope, courage, joy, forgiveness, healing—whatever you need.

When you feel helpless, when you have doubts, or when you simply want a fresh start, look to me. Let your circumstances remind you of my presence. Let your anxiety trigger truths about me. You don’t have to ask me to be with you, I already am. Instead, thank me for being with you. Thank me that I know what’s going on. Thank me that I will provide a way out. It’s OK to ask me for things, but do so acknowledging that I love you and am with you forever.

NEXT STEP
Remember God does hear your prayer, even when it feels like he doesn’t. Instead of asking God if “he’s there,” in faith thank him for being with you.
