Psalm 64

Psalm 64:1-10

SUMMARYHide me

OVERVIEWDavid seeks protection from his enemies who plot and scheme to defeat him. But David knows in the end, all will fear God.

BIG IDEAIt’s God’s job to protect. It’s our job to obey him and to pray.

KEY VERSE: Psalm 64:9
Then everyone will be afraid; they will proclaim the mighty acts of God and realize all the amazing things he does.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I do hear your cries for help and complaints about your enemies. I see what your enemies are doing. They like to huddle and devise wicked plans to hurt and harm others. They want to damage bodies, minds, and souls. When they huddle for evil, I imagine a day when they will huddle to pray, when they will huddle to confess their sin to me and to one another, and when they will huddle to put together a plan to share my love with others.

Pray with that kind of vision for your enemies. You used to be just like them. You were far from me and intent on doing evil. Even today you have tendencies to slip into former habits. You are a new person today. Thank me for what I have done and pray for what I am yet to do in the lives of those around you. Join me and show and tell others about my love.

NEXT STEP
Remove yourself from difficult situations and take refuge in the Lord. “The godly will rejoice in the Lord and find shelter in him” (verse 10).
