SUMMARY: Never distant
OVERVIEW: David is on the run and feels far from home, but he calls on God. He prays for provision and fondly remembers God’s love and provision.
BIG IDEA: You are only a prayer away from hope.
KEY VERSE: Psalm 61:2
From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety…
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
When you feel like you have no time, I hear your prayer. When you get bad news, I hear your prayer. When your relationships fracture, I hear your prayer. When you or someone you love gets injured, I hear your prayer. When you give in to that temptation—again—I hear your prayer. When your head is filled with doubts or accusations, I hear your prayer. When you erupt in anger and say or do things that embarrass you, I hear your prayer. When you are so tired or distraught or overwhelmed that you don’t know what or how to pray, I hear your prayer.
Come to me. Rest in the shelter of my wings. Sit quietly, without looking over your shoulder in fear. I will protect you and provide for you. Lean against me and sing songs of praise. Renew your confidence and remember who I am. I will give you the strength you need. Breathe deeply and slowly, knowing I am with you and will never leave you. I am God, and I hear you and am with you.
NEXT STEP
Never lose hope—God is always with you. Stop and pray now. And look for an opportunity today where you can pray with and for another person.
