Psalm 5

Psalm 5:1-12

SUMMARYLead me

OVERVIEWDavid calls on God in the morning, asking God to lead him.

BIG IDEA“Good morning, Lord. What are we doing today?”

KEY VERSEPsalm 5:1–2
O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I enjoy time with you. In fact I look forward to it. Take advantage of the morning hours to seek my heart for you. Listen as I speak through my word and Spirit. But take time in the afternoon and evening as well. I am always at work. I want you to hear me and see my activity. Be still and watch and listen.

Make wise choices in your day. You will not always feel like doing the right thing and some will encourage you to lie or cheat. But stand strong. My Spirit will give you strength. Even if you fail, I will be ready to receive you when you return to me. I love each person you see today, even those who ignore me. I am committed to them and want to have a relationship with them. But I will not put up with those who persist in choosing evil. Pray for them and love them, and I will continue to invite them to be in relationship with me.

NEXT STEP
Pause frequently throughout the day to tell God what’s going on and to seek his leadership. Set (and then reset) your phone’s alarm for 60 or 90 minutes to remind you.
