Psalm 37

Psalm 37:1-40

SUMMARYDon’t fret

OVERVIEWDavid encouraged believers to delight in the Lord and warns them to not be seduced by offers from the wicked.

BIG IDEAIt may feel like the wicked prosper but, ultimately, they don’t.

KEY VERSEPsalm 37:7 (from David)
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Many ask why the wicked prosper. Some are curious; others are furious. But my answer is always the same—they don’t. The scope of their ill-gotten gain is minuscule compared to the eternal riches I have for you. Don’t be tempted by the sure-fire deals swindlers offer when, in reality, they’re simply redefining sin so they can benefit. Trust me and do the right thing. Take delight in my ways. I want to give birth to new desires and new dreams in your heart and mind. I want you to take pleasure in them and reap the benefits of an honest living.

So do not fret—don’t worry. You’re not missing out when friends or family show off their shiny new toys or boast of their bank account. Keep your hope in me and stay on my path. Many times my way is slower and doesn’t seem to offer the same dividends. But when you feel that way, your thinking is limited and you’re viewing life through temporary eyes. Have an eternal mindset and discover an abundance of riches in me.

NEXT STEP
Evaluate your life. Are you taking any short cuts in order to succeed. Be honest with yourself and invite a friend or family member to give feedback. Do things God’s way and you will be blessed.
