Psalm 32

Psalm 32:1-11

SUMMARYForgiven

OVERVIEWThe joy and hope of forgiveness.

BIG IDEAThere is blessing when we confess our sin.

KEY VERSEPsalm 32:5 (David’s prayer)
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Laugh. Dance. Shout out loud. Do not hold back, for you are forgiven. I have wiped away your sins. You have no reason to worry about them again. They are gone. Don’t look for them or think about them. Instead, rejoice! Turn your radio up louder and do something funny to make people stare. You’ve got no reason to hold back—celebrate!

One thing I do want you to remember is the pain that sin causes. Let that memory linger. I want it to deter you from giving in to temptation and I want it to motivate you to encourage others to follow me. Remember also the foolishness of hiding your sin from me and others. Deep down you were aware that I knew, but you worked so hard to keep it from others that you only hurt yourself. Unconfessed sin leads to isolation. It’s dark and lonely there and is yet another lie from the enemy. You hide your sin in an effort to protect yourself when, in reality, confession brings hope, healing, laughter, joy, freedom, and so much more. It’s time to dance!

NEXT STEP
