Psalm 20

Psalm 20:1-9

SUMMARYPray confidently

OVERVIEWDavid encourages us to look to God and to pray confidently in all situations.

BIG IDEARejoice that God answers prayer.

KEY VERSEPsalm 20:7 (David’s reminder)
Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Go ahead and shout! Be joyful and confident that I hear your prayers. You don’t have to wonder if I’m listening. You don’t have to perform or attempt to live perfectly, hoping it will increase your chance of getting my attention. You’ve got it. I’m here now and always. Talk to me.

I love when you call on me and wait for my response. I know it’s tempting to pray, hoping your request is in my will, or to pray when all your efforts prove fruitless. Try praying and waiting, instead. You don’t have to stand still. Go about your day, but listen. I speak in a variety of ways. You may hear my voice as you read my word, or perhaps in a song lyric, or a timely word from a friend or loved one. Listen for my direction. You’ve tried enough in your own power and strength. Put that aside awhile and wait on me.

NEXT STEP
Talk to God throughout the day with humility and confidence. Seek to begin each project, class, or meeting with a word of prayer. Pray on your own, but look for opportunities to pray with someone else.
