SUMMARY: God delivers
OVERVIEW: David recounts the ways God provided deliverance through various trials.
BIG IDEA: God is our rescuer.
KEY VERSE: Psalm 18:2 (David is thankful for God’s delivery)
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am your rock—I’m dependable. Look to me when you struggle or are not sure which way to go. I am your fortress—I’m safe. I will provide protection when you are tired and need a place to rest or if you need protection from an enemy. I am your deliverer—I’m trustworthy. Spare yourself grief and seek me early and often. But even when you don’t, I am still available.
You are not isolated. There may be times you feel alone, but your feelings are not always trustworthy. I am dependable. So call out to me when you’re in need and even when all is well. I love to hear from you. And I will provide for you not only because that is my character but because I delight in you. I know you and love you—always. Don’t try to earn my love. You already have it. Receive my love and live with confidence. Take steps of faith today, knowing I am with you.
NEXT STEP
Be encouraged by all God has done. Review ways God has previously provided for you by making a list and texting it to a friend or sharing it with someone who needs encouragement. Be empowered by the knowledge that God is with you.
