Psalm 123

Psalm 123:1-4

OVERVIEWA lament psalm where Israel waits on God to act on their behalf.

BIG IDEAWe must depend on God’s provision.

KEY VERSEPsalm 123:3
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy, for we have had our fill of contempt.

Let me simplify life for you: look to me for your hope. Look to me for your meaning. Look to me for your satisfaction. When you do that, you no longer have to prove yourselves to others. You no longer have to beat yourself up for your shortcomings. You no longer have to strive to live a perfect life. It’s not about you. I am all you need and I will provide for you. I will provide forgiveness, meaning, and value. I will give you identity.

I have shown and will continue to show you mercy. So take that gift and share it with others. Treat others the way I treat you. Encourage others with these truths. Help them know that I love them and am for them. Take their hand and redirect them, so they no longer feel bound to live by the world’s rules. Look to me and be free. Worship me with joy and freedom, knowing you are my child.

Encourage someone today that God is with them and offer to pray for them.
