Psalm 121

Psalm 121:1-8

SUMMARYEver present

OVERVIEWA reminder that God watches over us and is our protector and provider.

BIG IDEA: Look up! We are safe in God’s hands.

KEY VERSEPsalm 121:1–2
I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
When you face trouble and trials, look up to me. And if that doesn’t bring you peace and calm, keeping looking up. Don’t be so consumed by your enemy or the challenge you face that you fail to remember that I am the one who offers you hope and strength and fulfillment. I—the maker of heaven and earth—am the one who brings you help and gives you strength. I am with you every step of the way. I will not forget you nor will I doze off. I will watch over you day and night.

My care and protection does not promise a problem-free life. But it does guarantee my ever-present participation in your life—both now and forevermore. Is there anything that prevents you from following me? Anything that holds you back from taking your next step of faith? Look up and seek me. Listen for my instruction, breathe deeply, and follow me.

NEXT STEP
When time allows (today or in the near future) hike up a hill or to the roof of a high-rise and enjoy the view. Let it remind you that God is with you. God has the power you need, not your own strength or any man-made device.
