Psalm 12

Psalm 12:1-8

OVERVIEWAlthough no one is faithful, and everyone lies, the Lord keeps the poor and needy safe.

BIG IDEAGod is trustworthy for his words are flawless.

KEY VERSEPsalm 12:1
Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth!

Be a truth-teller. You see the impact that deception can have. When you’re tempted to lie or slightly modify what’s true, you’re putting your hope and trust in yourself. Put your hope and trust in me, instead. I am far more reliable. Be faithful in all things and freely admit when you’ve fallen short. Honesty may be costly in the short-term, but it will grow and develop your character in a way that will benefit you and those around you forever.

Remember, my word is flawless. It purifies and refines. Let it do that for you. Don’t beat yourself up for telling a lie or hurting a friend. Confess what you did, make the appropriate apologies, and start afresh. It may take your friend or whomever you hurt time to heal, but I am here and ready to receive you now. Come to me and be renewed so that you may walk again.

How loyal are you? Are you able to keep a secret? Do you follow-through on your promises and commitments? Focus on telling the truth today. Be aware of any internal temptation to twist the truth to make yourself look better than someone else. And complete any task you promised you’d do.
