Psalm 118

Psalm 118:1-29

SUMMARYUltimate faith

OVERVIEWA psalm of thanks and trust in God.

BIG IDEAYou can trust God, regardless of the circumstances.

KEY VERSEPsalm 118:5–6
In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Give thanks to me all the time and in all situations. You do not have to be thankful for your trials, but you can give thanks because I am with you. Owning this truth can be your greatest victory. This was a Passover psalm and one Jesus would’ve sung before going to the garden to pray (Matthew 26:30). If Jesus could praise me in his most difficult hour, you can trust me in any situation.

Stop and take time to pray in difficult circumstances. It’s easy to begin trying to solve problems before praying. Discipline yourself to stop and pray the moment you face a challenge. Trust me. What can mere mortals do for you or to you? Take refuge in me for I am reliable and trustworthy. I love you and I am with you and I am for you. Turn to me. Call on my name. Let me deliver you.

NEXT STEP
Is anything troubling you right now? Stop and pray. Be aware of others’ needs today and ask if you can pray for them.
