Proverbs 26:1-28

SUMMARYProblem people

OVERVIEWReminders that not everyone is a good example.

BIG IDEAAvoid the fool (verses 1-12), the sluggard (verses 13-16), and the trouble maker (verses 17-28). And don’t emulate them, either.

KEY VERSEProverbs 26:4
Don’t answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
You are my chosen child to impact the lives of those around you. I have clothed you with faith, hope, and love—use these blessings to display my glory. To act otherwise should be unexpected—like a snowstorm in the summer. Instead, use your tongue to speak words of hope. Use your hands to serve and care for others. Use your feet to carry you to the places I lead.

Arise each day with expectation and eagerness to do my will. To roll over and waste the day is to miss out on what I want to do. It is good to rest and retreat, but don’t oversleep your life away. Don’t arrive late for a party that I have planned. You are my chosen one, but don’t see yourself as more valuable than others. Walk humbly with me and fan the flame of faith I am building. Continue to seek me and obey me, and your fire will burn brightly.

NEXT STEP
Be a hard worker, a truth-teller, and one open to correction. Ask those who know you well to identify any blind spots.
