Philippians 3

Philippians 3. Pursue

Philippians 3:1-21

SUMMARYPursue

OVERVIEWPaul warned of the ‘dogs’ in life who try to hinder spiritual growth. Instead, we are to press on and pursue Christ and his goal for our lives.

BIG IDEANever give up. Your future is before you.

KEY VERSEPhilippians 3:13-14 (Despite Paul’s challenging past he focuses on his future)
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Your past is over. There will be some memories that make you proud and smile. Other events will make you feel sick and discouraged. All of it is behind you. Even if you still deal with consequences from your past, once you ask me for forgiveness, the judgment is over. The enemy may bring it up, but I won’t. If and when he does, quote today’s key verse as your new marching orders. You are pressing on towards victory in Jesus.

Lean into those words “press on.” You will face challenges. Don’t let them defeat you or change your course. Follow me. I have you on the right path, so when obstacles arise, press on. Don’t give up or give in. Give everything to me. Call on me for strength and wisdom. Walk alongside those you trust who can help you. Don’t listen to the doubters. Listen to me. Press on to all I have called you to.

NEXT STEP
Ignore current distractions and don’t be overcome by past mistakes. Instead, pursue Christ. Every time you feel regret for something from your past or overwhelmed by something you currently face, read today’s key verse and use that as a prayer to God.
