SUMMARY: Everyone matters
OVERVIEW: The Levites assisted the priests by taking care of all temple details, allowing them to present the offerings.
BIG IDEA: What you do and how you think matters today.
KEY VERSE: Numbers 3:5-7 (God to Moses)
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Call forward the tribe of Levi, and present them to Aaron the priest to serve as his assistants. They will serve Aaron and the whole community, performing their sacred duties in and around the Tabernacle.”
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
You are one of my priests. You are not a priest because of your family lineage as in the book of Numbers, but because I have called you to be a healer and servant and voice of hope in the world. Make your day an offering to me. Offer me your day, your work, your play, your words.
I want your whole person: mind, body, soul. Set aside time to spend with me, and interact with me throughout the day, too. Take time to be still and sit quietly before me. It may feel odd. But practice this new habit, and over time my voice will become louder and more distinct. Look at your day as one commissioned for greatness. Some tasks will feel important. Most won’t. But they will be meaningful in my eyes and will be part of my plan. Serve me with joy and great expectation. I want you, my priest, to serve me in life-changing ways.
NEXT STEP
Take pride in your work. You may not be getting attention for your work, but what you do matters. Take time to pray before you begin, asking God to give you strength and wisdom. Pray in the middle of your day, asking for clarity and insight. And pray at the end of your workday, thanking God for his faithfulness.
