Numbers 26

Numbers 26:1-65

SUMMARYFollow through

OVERVIEWGod promised that none of the people counted in the first census would survive to make it into the promised land, and that’s precisely what happened.

BIG IDEAGod is faithful—he always follows through.

KEY VERSERomans 11:22 (Paul to the Romans)
Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in his kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
As a loving father, I will provide instruction, blessing, support, praise, and discipline. I love to bless, and I want to bless you. I’m eager to do so. Follow me and my way and experience the joy of a faith-filled life. You will not always be comfortable, for I will lead you places and nudge you to do things you never thought possible. So it will feel awkward, but you will be fulfilled and take steps of faith with confidence, peace, and a bit of a smile.

I will also discipline when necessary. While I’d prefer to bless you, I’m more interested in you being not only the person I created you to be but the person you want to be. There is nothing like waking up eager to be part of my plan, with a guilt-free conscience and joy in your heart. You can have that. Regardless of your past, your fresh start begins now.

NEXT STEP
Humbly recognize that God follows through on his discipline, but rejoice that he also follows through on his blessings! Take time to thank God for his goodness and ask for help in your areas of need.
