Numbers 19

Numbers 19:1-22

SUMMARYConstant cleaning

OVERVIEW: God describes the ritual cleaning process for purification.

BIG IDEA: Don’t allow sin to build-up—be quick to confess it.

KEY VERSE: Hebrews 9:13–14 (Jesus makes us clean)
Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
The perfect sacrifice of Jesus has replaced the vast ceremonial purification laws. You no longer need constant cleaning to come to me. I have forgiven you, and we have a relationship through Jesus. Rest in your freedom from sin’s penalty. Come to me as a child—energetically, honestly, and with wide eyes of wonder. I want you to enjoy your forgiveness and show you how you can live a rich and full life.

Remember, however, the enormous cost for your freedom. And recognize you are still vulnerable to sin and temptation. Humbly walk with me and regularly invite me to search you and reveal any sin in your life. My forgiveness is always available. Do not let sin build-up—be quick to confess it. There is no rug to cover your sin. Come to me and let me heal you. Come to me and let me remind you I love you. Come to me so I can equip you to bring hope to those around you.

NEXT STEP
Ask God to search your heart. Do you have any sin to confess? Be quick to confess your sin. Keep short accounts with God and thank him for the complete cleansing you get through Jesus.
