Numbers 12

Numbers 12:1-16

SUMMARYJealous

OVERVIEW: God disciplines Aaron and Miriam for jealousy delays Israel’s trip.

BIG IDEASeek God’s glory, not your own.

KEY VERSENumbers 12:2 (Miriam and Aaron to Moses)
They said, “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” But the Lord heard them.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Everything will not go your way, but I am still in control. Do not doubt my power or what I can do. Do not question those I choose to use. I want you to trust me and follow me. When you do not, you live by your power and under your authority. That never ends well. Trust me, even when circumstances are frustrating or when you disagree with those in leadership. You don’t have to agree with them or blindly follow them. Seek me and my will.

Jealousy and criticism are dangerous. It will consume you and impact those around you. You are not alone when you murmur offer looks of disgust–others can hear and see. You are making disciples through your actions and words. There is a better way to lead and love. Be a listener. Be one who prays for those you agree with and those with whom you disagree. And seek my will above your own.

NEXT STEP
Are you feeling jealous? Bring those feelings to God. Allow him to act rather than taking action on your own. Take time to pray a blessing on those who lead you to feel jealous.
