Numbers 11:1-35

SUMMARYComplaints

OVERVIEW: Israel complains about their food. They want more than manna and crave delicacies from Egypt. God provides quail but disciplines Israel for doubting that he would adequately provide for them.

BIG IDEAGod faithfully provides what we need when we need it.

KEY VERSENumbers 11:23 (God to Moses)
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
There’s no need to doubt. Even before you pray, I know what you need. Still, I want you to pray. I want to hear from you. Your prayer reminds me that you trust me, and it reminds you that you need me. But pray confidently. Pray with the knowledge that I—your heavenly Father—hear you and will provide what you need. It’s more important for me that you know we are in a relationship than it is for me to give you what you want. Knowing I hear you and am for you should change how you pray.

Faith is praying with the confidence that I will provide what you need and then thanking me both for what you do receive and what you don’t. It’s easy to trust me when you get what you want. I want you to trust me when you don’t get what you want. I want you to thank me, knowing I will provide what you need when you need it.

NEXT STEP
Remember that God hears your prayer and knows what you need. Take time to pray, but besides asking for things, spend time thanking God for his love, care, and provision.
