SUMMARY: It’s true!
OVERVIEW: Jesus is resurrected and later appears to two travelers on the road to Emmaus, explaining the scriptures and how they related to him. Eventually, the traveler’s eyes were opened, and they recognized it was Jesus who was with them the entire time. Jesus later appeared to the disciples and then ascended to heaven.
BIG IDEA: Jesus is in our midst.
KEY VERSE: Luke 24:25–27 (Jesus to the two on the road)
Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures. Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?” Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am what you’re looking for. When the government lets you down, when the world is in chaos, turn to me. When your lust for food, money, sex, attention, acceptance, safety, danger, approval, and escape leaves you empty, I will give you everything you desire. None of those things can satisfy. Only I provide fulfillment.
I am your savior, and I am creating a revolution in your heart. I am not here to be your habit or your compulsion or your addiction or your escape or your president. I am here to lead you, to love you, to save you, to transform you, to relate with you, to heal you, and to satisfy you completely.
My word is true. Not only can you trust the stories, letters, history, and wisdom written in it, but you can also believe that I want to speak with you now. I won’t give new revelation outside of what you read in the Bible, but I will teach you how to apply it. Stop filling yourself up with anything but me. Walk with me as I lead you.
