Luke 22

Luke 22. God’s will

Luke 22:1-71

SUMMARYGod’s will

OVERVIEW: Jesus has his last supper with his disciples, betrayed by Jesus, arrested, and later Peter denies knowing him. Through it all, God the Father strengthens Jesus in his time of greatest need.

BIG IDEAGod, I want your will and your way.

KEY VERSELuke 22:42–43 (Jesus to God the Father)
“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Faith is being obedient even when you are deeply anxious and afraid. Faith is being open with me about those anxieties and fears. Faith is being willing to do what I want, even if it is not what you want. Faith can feel tenuous, but when you place your trust in me, you will have a rock-solid foundation.

When you are in pain, don’t hold anything back. When you are confused or filled with doubt, I want to hear the deepest cry of your heart. What do you think you need? What do you think you’re missing? How can I provide? Share it all with me. I want to hear from you. But take the time to listen to me. I will be speaking, for I always have a plan. I may not provide in the way you desire, but I will provide, and it will prove to be exactly what you and others need.

NEXT STEP
When is the last time you felt God call you to do something you could never do on your own? Is it time to step into the world of the humanly impossible again, so that you and those around you can see God work in supernatural ways? If you are ready, tell God you want to join him where he is working and respond to his invitation.
