Luke 21:1-38

OVERVIEWJesus tells the story of the poor widow whose small gift (compared to others) was quite generous. He then teaches about the end times. He warns them to avoid false teachers, prepare for challenging times, and to continue to stand firm and trust in him.

KEY VERSELuke 21:3–4 (Jesus to disciples)
“I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am making you a sacrificial giver. The more you get to know me, the more you’ll be willing to trust me. The more you experience me, the less obsessed you’ll be with acquiring stuff you don’t need. As I fill you with my overflowing grace, mercy, and love, you will be excited to give your time, money, and talents generously, knowing I will provide, and knowing there is joy in sacrifice.

I care about your willingness to give because it reveals your heart. Your heart unveils your true motives. Pray for your heart to be transformed. Offer it to me and allow me to mold and shape it to beat and give life as I designed. Invite me to bring life, renewal, generosity, and sacrifice to your heart. It won’t always be a pleasant process, but it will be effective. Trust me as I lead you. Follow through on what I call you to do today, and you will begin to see results.

NEXT STEP
Have you budgeted some generosity into your life this month? Perhaps you give a certain amount of money, time, or ability at church or to other service opportunities. What can you give up this month to give more? Sacrifice a dinner out for an extra financial gift? Sacrifice entertainment time or personal workout time to serve extra? Pray about where to give more this month and do it.
