Leviticus 20

Leviticus 20:1-27

SUMMARYSet apart

OVERVIEW: God has set us apart as his children. God provides more laws in this chapter and challenges us to live in a way that brings him honor.

BIG IDEAGod’s love should be our motivation for living.

KEY VERSELeviticus 20:7–8 (God to Israelites)
So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the Lord your God. Keep all my decrees by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord who makes you holy.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have set you apart to follow me and to honor me. Tests and temptations will surround you. Many will mock you or ignore you for following me. But remember, I am the Lord. I am the eternal one. I am the one who gives you life. Follow me.

When you are alone, live with integrity. Use wisdom in what you view, think about, or read. I don’t say this to prevent you from doing something. I say this so that you might live the life you desire. Denying yourself—exercising discipline—will strengthen you and better equip you to love me and serve others. I’ve set you apart to make a difference. Your life can be a catalyst for change in your home, at work, or school. I didn’t give you life only for your benefit. I gave you life because I love you, and I want you to make a difference. You’ve been set apart for a reason—to truly live!

NEXT STEP
Try fasting from something today that you enjoy—TV, social media, snacks, for example. Do it to develop self-control and remind yourself to pray every time you hunger for the item or task or food you’ve set aside.
