Leviticus 1

Leviticus 1:1-17

SUMMARYRansom paid

OVERVIEWBurnt offerings atone for the sins of the one presenting the offering. An innocent life (animal) is the ransom price exchanged for the life of the guilty.

BIG IDEASacrifice is costly.

KEY VERSELeviticus 1:4 (Moses to Israel)
Lay your hand on the animal’s head, and the Lord will accept its death in your place to purify you, making you right with him.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Jesus’ sacrifice removed your sins. He offered his unblemished life, and you are now free. Jesus’ sacrifice also gives you an opportunity. I want your life to be a sacrifice, a sweet aroma. I want you to say “no” to evil and selfishness and instead say “yes” to me. When you do that, you will make an impact wherever you go. I want people to think and feel differently because you were with them. That’s what Spirit-filled living does. It points people to me and helps them think about life beyond themselves.

But don’t try to be perfect. I don’t expect that. But I do want you to invite me wherever you go. When you do, people will notice something different about you. You’ll make a positive impression, and it will linger. Live like a free person and help others know freedom is available to them as well. No shame or guilt remains. Freedom awaits!

NEXT STEP
Dedicate your entire being to the Lord today, that your life may be an aroma pleasing to him. Is there an area of your life you have not given to God? Take a minute now to pray and offer every part of your life to him.
