Joshua 6

Joshua 6

Joshua 6:1-27

SUMMARY: Jericho falls

OVERVIEW: Joshua and Israel obeyed God, and the walls of Jericho came tumbling down.

BIG IDEA: Faithfulness sometimes appears foolish, but continue to focus on God.

KEY VERSE: Joshua 6:27 (God’s presence and power)
So the Lord was with Joshua, and his reputation spread throughout the land.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I delivered Jericho into Israel’s hands long before the wall fell. Israel’s marching was an act of faith and declaration of my power. It was an opportunity for them to encourage one another. It gave them a chance to believe, to step out in faith together, and to watch me work. I have done the same for you. I have delivered you from the penalty of sin. I have delivered you from fear and anxiety. I have delivered you from having to perform to be accepted. Walk with me confidently. Know you are free and victorious in Christ. Watch me work in your life and in those around you.

Some—perhaps many—will mock you or look down on you for your faith. Ignore them and keep your eyes on me. I am the one who will bring you victory. Focus on me and my will. Do not be distracted by what others think or say. Devote yourself to knowing me and following me, and I will provide for you.

NEXT STEP
Listen for God’s instructions and obey him. Is he prompting you to say or do something that stretches you? Ask a friend to pray for you and take that step of faith.
