SUMMARY: God’s reputation
OVERVIEW: Jericho’s residents knew Israel was coming and they feared God—possibly more than Israel did.
BIG IDEA: God’s reputation prevails—walk in his victory.
KEY VERSE: Joshua 2:11 (Rahab to the spies)
No wonder our hearts have melted in fear! No one has the courage to fight after hearing such things. For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below.
IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I want a relationship with you where you know me, trust me, and follow me. My desire is that you fear me—respect me—more than the words and instructions of others. Put me first. Teach others what it means to know me and obey me. Lead the way. Set an example for believers and unbelievers. If you won’t fear me I will use others, even unbelievers, to show you how to do so.
You have experienced my strength and power. Model for others what that looks like. If you haven’t, or if it has been long ago, seek a fresh encounter with me. I’m eager to provide one. Step out in faith and watch me provide. Don’t run before me, however. Wait on me. Listen for my instructions. I will speak and when I do, follow me with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Let your life demonstrate my love and faithfulness.
NEXT STEP
What is your next step of faith? Is anything preventing you from taking it? Ask God for courage and take that step. If you don’t know, ask God for wisdom and ask trusted friends to pray for you, too.
