Joshua 13

Joshua 13:1-33

SUMMARYNo retirement

OVERVIEW: Israel has more land to conquer, and the division of the land begins.

BIG IDEAThere’s still work to do. If you’re alive, God has plans for you.

KEY VERSEJoshua 13:1 (God to Joshua)
When Joshua was an old man, the Lord said to him, “You are growing old, and much land remains to be conquered.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have set you aside, and I have plans for you. My plans will match your skills and abilities, and when they don’t, have faith that I will provide what you need when you need it. You are my child and part of my plan to bring hope and healing to the world. My plans are not limited to the young or to those who live in certain areas or with those who make a specific wage. My plans are for all, and that includes you.

Whether you retire from your employment or not, there is no retiring from our relationship. I have given you gifts that I want to continue to develop. If anything, retiring from your career should propel you to serve me in new ways with fewer time constraints. Until your last breath, I have words for you to share, works for you to do, and people to encourage. There’s no retiring from eternal matters. Let’s go to work.

NEXT STEP
If you can still dream about the future, dream big, and ask God to show you what next steps you should take. If you do not think you have much of a future, ask God to give you eyes to see all he still has for you. Ask for faith and courage to take your next step.
