BIG IDEAGod is in control and is the ultimate power source.

KEY VERSEJohn 19:11 (Jesus to Pilate)
Then Jesus said, “You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am the ultimate power source. I give you power, and I give authority to those with influence over you. Don’t focus on your ability or another’s limitations. Focus on me: the all-powerful power source. I am in control, not you or your boss or your leaders. Whether it feels like it or not, I am in total control. Practice submitting to me, and learn to follow my lead, knowing I am trustworthy and reliable.

I am the one who gives you opportunities to lead others. I am the one who provides people for you to follow. Walk with me. Keep in step with me as you lead others. Remain my faithful, humble servant. Do not run ahead of me. And pray for those in leadership over you. Regardless of how you feel about them, submit to them, and pray that they would know me and follow me. When you obey and support your leaders, you are serving me.

NEXT STEP
Are you having a difficult time understanding a circumstance you’re in or a demanding leader who has authority over you? Write down two things:

  1. a Bible verse that describes how God feels about you (If you’re not sure where to look, try Matthew 10:30-31; Romans 8:39; 1 John 3:1)
  2. a memory of a time in your life when God showed you how he feels about you. Give God thanks and persevere today
