John 18

John 18. meek

John 18:1-40

SUMMARYMeek

OVERVIEWJesus was betrayed, arrested, denied, challenged, slapped, bound, and sent away. Yet all along, he was in control: power under control.

BIG IDEAWhen the world is in chaos, Jesus is still in control.

KEY VERSEJohn 18:36 (Jesus to Pilate)
Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
You are the child of a king. You have the keys to my Kingdom, where there is freedom, forgiveness, renewal, joy, purpose, and deep connection with me—the creator of the universe. Don’t get caught up in your temporary world, which is a competitive rat race for power, pleasure, and fame. You have total access to me, my Kingdom, and my blessings, which bring lasting peace, satisfaction, and eternal significance. There is no comparison.

There will be times when you are overwhelmed, mistreated, and everything you stand for is mocked and ridiculed. Stand tall. Be strong. You will never experience anything alone. I will always be with you. Just as Jesus remained in control, turn to me, and allow my Spirit to lead and guide you. A Spirit-controlled man or woman is a powerful man or woman. Ask me, and I will empower you by my Spirit. Stand tall through my strength.

NEXT STEP
Sometimes, we all lose focus and buy the lie that the things of this world are going to satisfy. Is there something you are lusting for that is blocking your focus on Christ? A possession? A pleasure? A prestigious position? Remind yourself what is essential. Recommit to Jesus and trust him to give you all you need when you need it.
