Joel 2

Joel 2. Boomerang

Joel 2:1-32

SUMMARYBoomerang

OVERVIEWGod invites Israel to return to him, but he wants more than their physical presence: God wants their hearts.

BIG IDEAThere is promise and hope for all who turn (or return) to God.

KEY VERSEJoel 2:13 (God to Israel)
“Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Return to me. If you are walking away, stop and turn around. I am gracious and compassionate. I discipline those who refuse to follow me, but my arms are always open wide when you choose to humble yourself. Come to me and let me receive you. Then take this news to others. Don’t keep it a secret. Let others know of my love. Don’t let the doubters question whether or not I exist. Show them through your changed life.

I will save everyone who calls on me—everyone. I did not send my son for certain types of people, or good people, or those within a specific geographic location. There are no good people. But I will transform those who seek me. I will show them beautiful things and pour out my Spirit on all who pursue me so that they can help others turn back to me, as well. Stop walking away and turn to me. I want to spend time with you.

NEXT STEP
Don’t play games with God today. Pour out your love, truth, and life. Be vulnerable and real with God today and receive his love and forgiveness.
