Job 33:1-33

SUMMARYPay attention

OVERVIEWElihu tells Job that God speaks in a variety of ways: through people, pain, and dreams.

BIG IDEAGod is speaking. Are you listening?

KEY VERSEJob 33:13–14 (Elihu to Job)
So why are you bringing a charge against him? Why say he does not respond to people’s complaints? For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Pay attention. I am active in the world, in your life, and the lives of those around you. I did not only speak in previous eras. My Spirit is in you, and I am communicating today. I speak through the Bible, I speak through your life’s circumstance, I speak through your dreams, and I speak through the people in your life. I will also talk through you for other people’s benefit. Always measure everything you hear against my teaching in the Bible. But be awake and listening to what I am saying and how I want to lead you.

If you have difficulty hearing me, practice being still during your day. You can always find moments, even during chaotic work or school days, to pause and reflect. You don’t have to be in a quiet room. I can speak over jackhammers, sirens, crying babies, and thundering bosses. But you must learn to be still. Quiet your heart and mind. Breathe in, close your eyes, and listen. I may not always have something to say, but I don’t want you to miss it when I do.

NEXT STEP
Take time today to stop, be still, and listen. Try to pause 3-5 times for 30 seconds or more. What is God saying?
