Job 3:1-26

SUMMARYJob overwhelmed

OVERVIEWJob asks “why” five times, wondering why God allowed him to experience such a magnitude of suffering.

BIG IDEAGod is good, and we can trust him.

KEY VERSEJob 3:11 (Job to his friends)
Why wasn’t I born dead? Why didn’t I die as I came from the womb?

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I am not frustrated or intimidated by your “why” questions. Ask as many as you want or need. Just know you will not always get the precise answer you desire. In time, you will learn much, but you will never know everything. Ultimately, you’ve got to trust me. I love the song lyric that says I’m a good, good father. It’s true. I am good. Nothing comes your way without my approval. Some of what you experience will not make sense, but I will put all the pieces together, and the puzzle will be complete.

I rejoice that you are alive. Even if you curse the day you were born, I celebrate it. You are a gift to me and others. There are so many I want to introduce you to who are going through similar pain. I want you to be able to share your story. You will be one of the few with whom they can truly identify. You may feel overwhelmed, but you are loved and valued, and you will bless others.

NEXT STEP
Do you have a trusted friend you can lean on when life gets challenging? Thank him or her today, before the challenges arise! If you do not, ask God to provide a trustworthy friend.
