Jeremiah 50

Jeremiah 50:1-46

SUMMARYPunished

OVERVIEWMighty Babylon and its numerous gods would be defeated and be a spectacle for all to see. Yet God would redeem, restore, and protect the people of Israel.

BIG IDEAGod may allow sinners to prosper for a season, but he will judge them in the end.

KEY VERSEJeremiah 50:33–34 (God to Jeremiah)
This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: “The people of Israel and Judah have been wronged. Their captors hold them and refuse to let them go. But the one who redeems them is strong. His name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. He will defend them and give them rest again in Israel. But for the people of Babylon there will be no rest!”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Be encouraged. No matter what you are going through, Jesus is your advocate, and the Holy Spirit intercedes on your behalf. I am not ignorant of your pain or suffering. I sometimes allow it to achieve a greater purpose in the world. But you are not forgotten. I will never forget you, for I am with you always. I will bring wholeness and healing to you and all who suffer. While you wait, come to me. Cling to me, and I will protect you and provide for you.

Do not trust the words of those who are proud and arrogant. They may lift themselves or demand that others honor them, but I will humble them. Their day is coming when the kingdoms they worked so hard to build will crash. I will defend you and your cause, but I will bring down all who are against me. Seek me and trust me, for I am the Lord your God.

NEXT STEP
Have you been ignoring God and his directions for your life? Confess any sin you’ve been hiding or any rebellious actions. Call on God, knowing that when you humble yourself before him, he will lift you up.
