SUMMARYValiant

OVERVIEWIshmael murders Jerusalem’s governor and seventy of the eighty men who arrived to mourn the city’s fall. Johanan and other military leaders rallied to protect the remaining ten.

BIG IDEAThe wicked never rest while those who follow God find peace.

KEY VERSEProverbs 29:2
When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I will judge the wicked and all their evil deeds. No one who ignores or rebels against me will ultimately prosper. They may appear to go unharmed or even benefit from their atrocious acts, but that will be short-lived. Any moment they remain alive is my gracious way to give them more time to reject their evil ways and turn to me. Nothing is hidden from me. Everyone will be held accountable. May they surrender and turn to follow me.

I will also reward the faithful. Salvation and all good things are gifts from me and come through Christ. But I want my children to use their blessings in Christ to resist the devil and his depraved schemes. I want them to protect those who cannot defend themselves. When you follow me, you may not be blessed or encouraged by others, but you will hear me say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
