Jeremiah 2

Jeremiah 2:1-37

SUMMARYExchanged

OVERVIEWGod brings charges against Israel for rejecting him and, instead, trusting in their strength and knowledge and seeking help from other gods.

BIG IDEADon’t exchange God’s ways for your own.

KEY VERSEJeremiah 2:11 (God to Jeremiah)
Has any nation ever traded its gods for new ones, even though they are not gods at all? Yet my people have exchanged their glorious God for worthless idols!

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have given you life, gifts and abilities, purpose, mission, family, community, and myself. I have provided all you need today or any day. I have forgiven you of your past, provided direction for today, and hope for tomorrow. No one and nothing compares with who I am and what I offer. Yet, you can be easily distracted and deceived. You turn from what is true and pursue what is temporary. Don’t buy the lie.

Many others fall into the same trap, yet in the end, they regret their decision. A relationship with me is a gift. Don’t exchange it for what is popular at the moment. This type of living is a recurring theme throughout history. It happened in the garden, it happened on the road to the promised land, it happened with the kings and with the prophets, and it even happened with my Son. It’s a lesson worth noting: you will be disappointed by what the world offers, but I offer life and an abundant one at that.

NEXT STEP
Thank God for who he is and all he has done and is doing for you. Recommit to him and his ways today, and ask for his direction for your life. Be still and listen.
