BIG IDEAFollowers of Jesus don’t just listen to God’s word; they obey it.

KEY VERSEJames 1:22 (James writing to scattered Jewish believers)
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Don’t be frightened or intimidated or overwhelmed by the world. The enemy is living and active, but his power is limited. In fact, in Christ, you have authority over the enemy. Don’t get proud and arrogant with that knowledge, but do get confident. More so, I am with you every step of the way, so whenever you need wisdom or strength, ask. I love you, and I am eager to provide for you.

Don’t let life’s circumstances beat you down. I will help you endure them. And don’t blame me for the temptations you face. I do not tempt you to do evil. These come from within, and while the enemy uses them to destroy you, they can be tools to grow your faith. They are opportunities for you to invite me to lead your life. You can respond to temptation by revealing the reality of Jesus and the power of faith. But don’t just think about what you should or should not do. Take action as the Spirit leads. Respond in faith and live victoriously.

NEXT STEP
Have you been putting something off that God has prompted you to do? Take an extended time of silence today to be still before God. Ask if there’s anything he wants you to do or change and then put your faith in action by following through.
