KEY VERSEIsaiah 57:13 (God to Israel)
Let’s see if your idols can save you when you cry to them for help. Why, a puff of wind can knock them down! If you just breathe on them, they fall over! But whoever trusts in me will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I want you to be careful in whom and in what you trust. Your friends may have rituals they practice or good luck charms they touch or talk to when needs arise. They may have shrines of false gods to whom they pray. They may visit fortune tellers to learn what’s ahead. Ignore those ways. Dismiss those ideas and turn to me. I am the one you need. I am the one who can provide a way out when you are stuck or the courage to take the next step when you are scared.

False gods and idols are worthless. I am holy, mighty, and live forever. I dwell in a high and lofty place, yet I also reside with the humble. I am enraged by sin, but my heart warms to those who are humble. There will be no peace for the wicked, for those who choose to live according to their laws. But I offer peace and comfort and security to all who seek me, who humble themselves before me.

NEXT STEP
Look for examples of how people turn to and call on false gods. Each time you identify one, pray that you would remain faithful to God and always submit to his ways. Pray that friends or family members who put anything before God will instead turn to him and see and experience God’s love and power.
