Isaiah 5

Isaiah 5:1-30

SUMMARYRotten grapes

OVERVIEWGod did everything possible for Israel to produce good fruit, but it yielded only rotten grapes. So, as a result, God will tear down the vineyard and let it waste away.

BIG IDEAGod’s people should produce ripe fruit, not rotten grapes.

KEY VERSEIsaiah 5:21 (Isaiah to Israel)
What sorrow for those who are wise in their own eyes and think themselves so clever.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
Don’t be like those who turn from me, ignore me, and pretend they do not hear me. Don’t think more highly of yourself than you should. I want you to have confidence and walk with purpose but not in arrogance or defiance. I have given you all you need to not only survive but to thrive. Do you see what you have? Be grateful. Don’t long for what you do not have. Embrace what I’ve provided.

If you continue to reject me and ignore your purpose in life, you will miss out on all I want to give you. You choose by how you live. If you listen to me and follow my leading, you will bear much fruit. You will see miracles and rejoice over things you never thought possible. You will see new life burst from the ground. Or, you can live your way, by your own rules. Then you will live in and see decay. Don’t do that. Turn to me and walk with me. Let me give you love and life you can share with others.

NEXT STEP
God expects you to produce good fruit. So submit to God and allow him to work through you today. Ask God to speak to you and take time to look for and listen for his leading.
