Isaiah 38

Isaiah 38:1-22

SUMMARYNew perspective

OVERVIEW: God gives Hezekiah an additional fifteen years of life, and Hezekiah responds with a poem of praise.

BIG IDEAStop and praise God for his love and his power.

KEY VERSEIsaiah 38:18-19 (Hezekiah’s prayer)
For the dead cannot praise you; they cannot raise their voices in praise. Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness. Only the living can praise you as I do today. Each generation tells of your faithfulness to the next.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I love your praise, and I love you. The more you thank and praise me, the richer your life will be. When you receive my love, I will fill your heart with love. Your mind will expand when you see all I am doing. I will renew your spirit when you receive my forgiveness. Be thankful today. Thank me and all who deserve it. Show your appreciation through your words and actions. Teach others what it means to be a person of praise.

Call on me for healing and hope. Look to me for delivery. I may not always respond in the way you desire, but I always respond. I hear your prayers for forgiveness, and I put your sins behind my back. I no longer see them. Instead, I extend forgiveness and see Christ in you. My love and forgiveness are for all. Don’t let others live defeated lives. Instead, tell them about me, and tell them about my forgiveness. Teach them to praise me.

NEXT STEP
Is there anything you are not praying about and instead choosing to take care of on your own? Stop and praise God for his love and his power. Pray about what concerns you and thank God in advance for how he will provide.
