Isaiah 17

Isaiah 17:1-14

SUMMARYToo late

OVERVIEWIsrael (northern kingdom) chose Damascus (Syria) as an ally instead of trusting God. As a result, both would be defeated and then later recognize they should have trusted God.

BIG IDEADon’t let time run out. Trust God before it’s too late.

KEY VERSEIsaiah 17:10-11 (Isaiah to Israel)
Why? Because you have turned from the God who can save you. You have forgotten the Rock who can hide you. So you may plant the finest grapevines and import the most expensive seedlings. They may sprout on the day you set them out; yes, they may blossom on the very morning you plant them, but you will never pick any grapes from them. Your only harvest will be a load of grief and unrelieved pain.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
As long as you have breath, there is time to trust me. Even when you make an unwise choice, you can turn to me for forgiveness and a new direction. There may be consequences for your actions, but turn to me and get a fresh start. Those who are bitter have given up. Those who are aimless have lost hope. It’s never too late to turn to me unless you refuse to do so.

I will always have a remnant that believes. They choose to trust me regardless of what others say or how they are treated. Trust me today—it’s not too late. You don’t have to be anxious about your future. Those who look to me for wisdom and direction find peace. Seek me today—it’s not too late. I know what is best for you and will give you hope. My children run to me for answers and security. Lean on me today—it’s not too late.

NEXT STEP
Evaluate where you put your trust. For example, are you trusting your feelings and friends, or are you trusting God’s promises?
