Hosea 6

Hosea 6. Morning mist

Hosea 6:1-11

SUMMARYMorning mist

OVERVIEWGod compared Israel’s love to the morning mist that quickly disappears. They are guilty of going through religious motions without heart or conviction.

BIG IDEAGod brings hope and healing to broken, humble people.

KEY VERSE: Hosea 6:3 (Hosea to Israel)
Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
You can count on me. Just as the sun rises daily, I am dependable every moment. I want to say the same about you. I do not expect you to live a perfect life. Sinless perfection is not the goal—Jesus has already accomplished that for you. Faithful obedience is what I am after. When you sin, it’s not the end of the world. But it is a chance for you to humble yourself and acknowledge you’ve gone the wrong way and to turn back to me.

Don’t live like the morning mist that disappears as soon as a little heat appears. I want you to have confidence in me that perseveres through any storm, weather, or condition. I can give you faith like that if you follow me. Focus on being the person I’ve called you to be—a humble servant—rather than thinking about all the things you think I want you to do.

NEXT STEP
Take a look at your calendar and evaluate how you are using your time. Are you too busy? Are you doing the right things or lots of things that keep you occupied but don’t accomplish what you want to achieve? Spend some time in prayer about it and debrief with a friend.
