Hosea 1

Hosea 1. Unfaithful

Hosea 1:1-11

SUMMARYUnfaithful

OVERVIEWGod illustrates Israel’s unfaithfulness by having Hosea marry a woman who would be unfaithful to him.

BIG IDEAWe are prone to be unfaithful, yet God is always faithful.

KEY VERSEHosea 1:10 (God to Hosea)
Yet the time will come when Israel’s people will be like the sands of the seashore—too many to count! Then, at the place where they were told, ‘“you are not my people,” it will be said, “You are children of the living God.”

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I will never leave you or forsake you. That is my commitment to you today and always. I know you and love you, even though you turn from me and go your own way. You have been unfaithful in the past and—believe it or not—you will be in the future. But I will be here and ready to receive you if you ever turn away.

Walk with me today. You may hear things that entice you to turn from me, you may see something that seems like a sure thing, or you may scheme of ways to succeed or get to the top by taking short cuts or through deception. Resist those invitations and accept mine. Walk with me today. My way may not always appear to be the most direct, but it is. I know what lies ahead, so even if I make you go a long way, it is the best way. Trust me and follow me.

NEXT STEP
Evaluate your heart. Think about what you crave. If God is low on your desire list, ask him to give you a heart and hunger for him. Thank God for the time you are spending with him, and plan on checking in with God 2-3 more times today—even if it’s just a moment.
