BIG IDEAAs our priest, Jesus provides forgiveness for our sins and salvation and hope for eternity.

KEY VERSEHebrews 5:8-10 (the humanity and authority of Jesus)
Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. And God designated him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Have a humble heart and be ready and willing to serve. Allow me to determine who the leaders are. Don’t aspire to be in charge, but be faithful, available, and teachable. If your gift is serving, serve. If it is leading, lead. If it is hospitality, create environments where people feel welcome. In all things, have your eyes open and ears attentive to what I am doing and how I am leading. Join me in my work.

In all things, point people to Jesus. He is the reason for life. Help people know he understands their pain and has felt it, too. Help them know Jesus not only suffered on earth, but he did so for their benefit. His life, death, and resurrection assure them hope and healing from all their sin. Encourage people to embrace these truths. These are not just for the people of the world; they are for them! I love each person you see today, and I want them to know that Jesus offers them peace and forgiveness.

Are you coasting in your faith? Have you stopped seeking and following Jesus and chosen to sit back and watch? Everyone needs to rest and catch their breath, and if that’s you, then take it easy and allow God’s Spirit to refuel you. But if you’ve gotten comfortable on the sidelines, it’s time to get back in the game. Pray and ask God who you can invest in and begin to make disciples. If you’re not sure what that means, start by inviting someone to read through a Bible book. Teach them how you do it and how it impacts you throughout the day.
