Hebrews 2

Hebrews 2. body

Hebrews 2:1-18

SUMMARYHuman

OVERVIEWJesus was fully human and fully God and is, therefore, qualified to act on behalf of humanity and able to conquer sin.

BIG IDEACall on Jesus. He experienced humanity, and so he understands all we are going through.

KEY VERSEHebrews 2:14 (Jesus shared in our humanity to save us)
Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.

IF GOD WROTE YOU A LETTER
I have told you I love you through the prophets. I have shown you I love you through my Son. Jesus left the heavens and took on flesh for you. He is not ignorant of your pain nor unaware of your fears. Jesus saw pain and felt it, too. He faced overwhelming odds and trusted me through them. He sought another way—a different path—but he surrendered to me and my will. Jesus has shown you the better way—my way.

Of course, my way does not make things easier. But it does make them meaningful. When you follow me, you will make an impact. You will show others what faith looks and sounds and feels like. You will find great pleasure in obeying me, even if it causes you pain. But any pain you face now is temporary because Jesus has broken the power of death and evil. And he has replaced them with love, hope, grace, and peace. And you can experience those things forever.

NEXT STEP
Give thanks to Jesus for coming to earth, and recognize you are never alone. The fear or pain you feel, or the challenge you face, is not new. Jesus felt those, too. Call on him. Ask for him for help.
